Rusal unites with China to build alumina, Al plants in Guinea, China

United Company Rusal has agreed with China Power Investment Corp (CPI)to build a 2.8 million tpy alumina refinery in Guinea and a 500,000 tpy aluminium smelter in China. As part of the strategic partnership, Rusal will become CPI's partner in building an aluminium plant with minimum capacity of 500,000 tpy in Qunghai province, with its energy supply sourced from CPI's hydropower facilities on the Huang He river.
