Chalco signs MoU for Vietnam bauxite and alumina project

Aluminium Corp of China (Chalco) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Vietnam Coal Corp (Vinacoal) to build a 2 billion dollars bauxite mining and alumina project in Dac Nong, southern Vietnam. Under the agreement, signed in Beijing in mid-December, Chalco and Vinacoal will develop the bauxite reserves and build an alumina refinery, which will have a first phase capacity of 1.9 million tpy, increasing to 4 million tpy in the second phase.
