Vedanta Resources is facing a crunch as it attempts to source bauxite to feed its 1 million tpy alumina refinery project in the eastern Indian state of Orissa, market participants told MB. The London-listed company plans to begin commercial alumina production at the plant in Lanjigarh by December and is attempting to buy the bauxite it needs in the spot market, a senior official from the company confirmed.
