Legislators, NGOs offer lukewarm praise for FDA actions on BPA

Too little, too late. That basically sums up the views of congressional Democrats and non-governmental organizations regarding FDA's decision to no longer allow the use of bisphenol A-containing polycarbonate (PC) resins in baby bottles and sippy cups. The decision, announced in Tuesday's Federal Register, is in response to a petition filed last October by the American Chemistry Council to amend FDA's food additive regulations to prohibit the use of PC resins in baby bottles and sippy cups on the basis that such uses have been completely and permanently abandoned, (see FCN Feb. 24, 2012, Page 10)
