The House Energy and Commerce Committee is asking for briefings from Jensen Farms and its auditor, Primus Lab, in relation to the recent Listeria monocytogenes outbreak, as Democrats and Republicans both appear to be laying the groundwork for a hearing.On Oct. 21, six members of the committee sent a letter to Ryan and Eric Jensen, co-owners of Jensen Farms, the Holly, Colo.-based business that grew the cantaloupes that, as of Tuesday night, were linked to 133 illnesses in 26 states, including 28 deaths. The letter is signed by Reps. Fred Upton (R-Mich.), Henry Waxman (D-Calif.), Cliff Stearns (R-Fla.), Diana DeGette (D-Colo.), Joe Barton (R-Texas) and John Dingell (D-Mich.).
