US imports and exports of ammonium nitrate were down during July-August 2016 compared to the prior year period, according to the most recent data from the US Department of Commerce. The largest change in US AN trade was seen on the import side, with July-August 2016 volumes shrinking by 46% to 47,471 st (43,065 mt) compared to July-August 2015 imports of 87,580 st (79,452 mt). August imports alone fell to 21,666 st (19,655 mt) from 42,785 st (38,814 mt) over the same windows.
