USA: Arrivals continue deficit trend, exports ahead

US ammonia imports in April and for the first 10 months of the US fertilizer year through the end of that month continued to trail the prior year periods, while US exports remained ahead of the prior year's pace, according to the latest data from the US Department of Commerce. April ammonia 2016 imports were 466,890 st (423,560 mt), down from 564,287 st (511,918 mt) one year earlier. Most of the arrivals during the most recent month came from Trinidad and Tobago at 326,923 st, and Canada at 139,608 st. Trinidad and Canada were the key US suppliers in April 2015 also. However, April 2015 suppliers Russia at 74,795 st and Venezuela at 18,102 st were absent from the April 2016 import lineup.
