CF's UAN start-up has no immediate effect on supply

CF Industries' start-up of its new UAN unit has not yet improved product availability in the US, although customers of the nitrogen giant are hoping that will soon change. Even assuming CF emphasizes UAN production rather than running its new urea unit flat out, the US UAN supply chain is so tight that the new production is unlikely to cut into domestic values until May or June. UAN-32 barge values at New Orleans have inched up $2-3/st on average this week due to very thin supply.
