Sulphur prices steady but some call ceiling

Sulphur prices were relatively stable on the week, as Middle East postings for October were roughly in line with spot assessments. But views differed as to how much longer Chinese prices will hold up, with most expecting stability for another couple of weeks, while others believe the Autumn season is now at an end. Tasweeq announced its QSP for October at $76/mt FOB Ras Laffan, up $2/mt from its September number. Adnoc posted an official selling price of $81/mt FOB Ruwais for October, up by $4/mt from its September posting. The postings were roughly in line with recent business and with current spot assessments, including the published Middle East spot level of $75-80/mt FOB. In addition, a sale was heard from Iran's IGCC just below $80/mt FOB.
