With copper prices near six-year lows and news of operational cutbacks at mines around the world, traders are in general agreement that the risk to sulphuric acid prices is now firmly to the downside. Some players believe that weaker global demand may soon feed into European FOB values. Length in Chile is likely to grow in the coming months, even if recent strikes there have helped to temper the oversupply. Chilean spot demand is currently non-existent.
