US: August imports down 7%, ytd imports up 1.9%

The US imported 649,550 mt potash in August, down 7% year on year, but its year-to-date imports were 1.9% higher than the same point in 2014, according to customs data via GTIS. Canadian producers shipped 507,336 mt to the US in August, a 5.6% fall on August 2014 US exports, with 98,608 mt re-exported as part of the Canpotex agreement between PotashCorp, Agrium and Mosaic.
