Supramax more expensive than Capesize

FOR MOST of the past two weeks average earnings for Supramax bulk carriers of 52,000 dwt have been higher than those for Capesize vessels (with more than three times the carrying-capacity). At press time, Capesize earnings had edged higher to $27,798/day, a mere 1%, higher than the Supramax average, in stark contrast to an average premium of almost 150% during 2009.
