Congress passes three-year PTC extension; bill now awaits president's signature

The U.S. Senate on Oct. 28 passed a bill to extend the deadline for railroads to implement Positive Train Control (PTC) technology until Dec. 31, 2018, a three-year extension from the original Dec. 31,2015, deadline imposed by the Rail Safety and Improvement Act of 2008. The bill now awaits President Obama's signature.
