The 64th Annual Conference of the German Association for Medical Informatics, Biometry and Epidemiology (GMDS) builds upon the motto “Shaping Change - Creative Solutions for Innovative Medicine” and herewith highlights the unique combination of disciplines under the roof of GMDS. Medicine and the entire health care system have been in a state of upheaval for years due to increasing digitalization. The current draft laws, the medical informatics initiative and the constantly increasing number of new players are all contributing to a rapid increase in dynamics and speed. If we look abroad, to Estonia, where digital ID has long since become a reality not only in the healthcare sector, to-Switzerland, where Medgate and other telemedicine centers have long been routine, we know that a great change is also imminent in Germany. New, partly disruptive technologies and business models are meeting our established and traditional self-governing system.
