While coalbed methane (CBM) developments have been undertaken for many years in countries such as the USA and Australia, others including China, India, Indonesia and Russia have been slow to progress, meaning that more fiscal incentives are crucial for these industries, according to consultants GlobalData. “China, Indonesia and Russia have made concerted efforts to increase CBM production over the last decade, in line with demand for natural gas. However, the impact of their current incentives is limited by technical obstacles,” GlobalData said.
