Russian officials are close to agreeing a new oil tax system that should help companies proceed with new developments and brownfield projects deemed unprofitable in the current economic climate. While Moscow's tax take may shrink in the short-term, oil companies insist that higher crude production thanks to the planned fiscal changes will bring in more revenues in the long run.
