Turkmenistan's state-owned gas company Turkemengaz will lead the consortium and make major investments to build the 1,800 km long transnational gas pipeline that will transfer gas from Turkmenistan to India via Afghanistan and Pakistan, India's federal oil ministry said in a statement Thursday (IOD Nov.17'14). The statement came after the meeting of ministers from all four countries in Ashgabat. It said all four partners agreed to own the project and take steps for its early implementation, adding the investments are subject to technological and commercial viability. Construction on the pipeline is expected to start in December and end in 2018.
