Statoil Continues Board Reshuffle as Chairman Quits

Svein Rennemo will step down as Statoil chairman in the latest reshuffle at the top of the Norwegian state oil major, driven by the departure of its long-standing chief executive and the industrywide pressure on oil companies for greater efficiency amid lower oil prices. Statoil announced Wednesday that Rennemo will step down from Jul. 1 and that former ConocoPhillips boss Jim Mulva has also decided to leave the board. Rennemo, who turns 68 this year and has chaired the board since 2008, had informed the nomination committee in 2014 that he would not seek reelection this year.
