A key deepwater appraisal well by UK-listed independent Tullow Oil on an earlier discovery in Cote d'Ivoire has failed to find any oil at the location, making the original Autruche light oil discovery at the Paon-1X well uncommercial. The earlier discovery had been one of the few encouraging results on West Africa's Transform Margin after a series of drilling disappointments for explorers in Cote d'Ivoire and neighboring Liberia and Sierra Leone.
