Iran’s oil ministry news service, Shana, said Sunday that Iran had agreed to supply Iraq with 2 million liters per day of diesel, also agreeing in principle to supply gas to Iraq to feed power stations in Baghdad, as called for under a memorandum of understanding (MoU) inked between the two countries plus Syria in 2011. The deals were discussed during Iranian Oil Minister Rostam Ghasemi’s recent visit to Baghdad, during which he met with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki. No timeframe was given for the start-up of diesel supplies.
