Mexico is starting to factor future shale gas production into its energy supply equation after successful testing of shale gas deposits in northern Mexico that are believed to be an extension of the prolific Eagle Ford shale play in southern Texas (IOD Mar.10’11). The country’s energy ministry included projections for future shale gas production in a national energy strategy document that was published last week and which covers the period through 2026.
