Ukraine Makes Pitch to Become European LNG Hub

Key European gas transit state Ukraine on Friday launched its bid to join the ranks of the world's LNG importers as it unveiled a feasibility study for a planned but frequently derided 10 billion cubic meter per year regasification terminal on its Black Sea coast (IOD Feb.29'12). Ukraine is "in the right place at the right time" to enter the LNG market, Vitalii Dem'ianiuk, head of the scheme's coordination council at the State Agency for Investment and National Projects, said at a public presentation of the study, which was recently completed by Spain's Socoin, in Kiev.
