High Hopes for Latest Falklands Wells

London-listed Borders and Southern Petroleum said Wednesday that it has kicked off a two-well exploration program south of the Falkland Islands. Expectations are high, with Borders and Southern saying the two wells are targeting a total of 2 billion barrels of recoverable oil. The first, 61/17-1 -- spudded on Tuesday about 140 kilometers south of the Falklands -- is targeting the Darwin prospect, which the company says could hold more than 760 million bbl of recoverable oil. The second will target the Stebbing prospect.
