Sweden’s Lundin Petroleum said Thursday that the Makouala Marine-1 exploration well drilled in the Marine XIV Block offshore Congo (Brazzaville) encountered only limited oil-bearing pay and would be plugged and abandoned. It was the second of a two to three well exploration program across two offshore licenses in the West African oil producer. The drilling rig will be released as neither of the two contingent wells under consideration for the acreage will now go ahead.
