India Finally Gives Green Light for BP, Reliance KG-D6 Plans

A letter from BP Chief Executive Bob Dudley may have helped persuade India’s oil ministry to finally green light a $1.529 billion investment plan by BP and its partner, Reliance Industries, to develop four gas discoveries in the flagging showpiece KG-D6 Block off the country’s east coast. The oil ministry, which has delayed approval since September to develop four satellite fields surrounding the currently producing Dhirubhai-1 and -3 (D1 and D3) gas fields in the Krishna-Godavari Basin, approved the investment on Tuesday on the condition that projected costs do not balloon by more than 15%.
