Omran Abukraa has been named the new head of Libya's National Oil Corp. (NOC) after representing the country at the Opec meeting in Vienna on Jun. 8 (IOD Jun.8'11). He replaces Shokri Ghanem, who announced his defection on Jun. 1. Speaking to Dow Jones Newswires, Abukraa said Libya is now producing 150,000-200,000 barrels per day for domestic consumption, and that most fields are safe and will be able to restart production quickly once exports resume.
