US Lawmakers to Target Iran's Crude Exports

US lawmakers are drafting new legislation that would toughen sanctions on Iran by tar geting its crude oil exports, which provide more than 90% of the country's hard curren- cy revenue and last year netted its treasury over $50 billion. But sources in Washington say any new law would also address fears that a squeeze on Iran's crude exports - now around 2.2 million-2.3 million barrels per day - could backfire by driving up oil prices.
