Oil production at Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) was interrupted this week as local employees staged sit-ins at facilities across the country, demanding better benefits and salaries on par with those of expatriate workers. The company said output dropped slightly as the so-called "deferments" were small. "We are witnessing minor deferments, which are within the tolerance range," PDO external affairs head Suleiman al-Mantheri said Wednesday. Oman LNG, which gets its gas feedstock from PDO, said it had not been affected. "We're still receiving our gas and there have been no interruptions," Chief Executive and General Manager Brian Buckley said.
