Libyan rebels have taken control of the 120,000 barrel per day Zawiya refinery, 50 kilometers west of Tripoli, and cut the pipeline linking the plant to the capital, Reuters reported on Thursday, adding that rebels have also seized control of the town of Gharyan, 80 km south of Tripoli (IOD Aug.16'11). The fight continues to control oil facilities at the port of Brega, far to the east.
