BG Gets Lift From Reserve Upgrades in Brazil

Shares in BG rose 3.4% Tuesday after the UK gas giant said it has boosted estimates of certified reserves in the deepwater Tupi, Iracema and Guara fields in Brazil it shares with Brazilian state-controlled operator Petrobras and other partners. The best estimate of economically recov- erable gross resources for the three fields, certified by Houston reservoir engineer Miller & Lents, is now 10.8 billion barrels of oil equivalent. That is 34% - or 2.7 billion boe - higher than the 8.1 billion boe mid- point of the UK producer's earlier indicative range. Resources at the three fields net to BG now total 2.8 billion boe.
