Total will not leave Myanmar, the French major's boss, Christophe de Margerie, said Friday, shrugging off claims from a US environmental group that the French giant is supporting the country's military junta with revenue from its gas operations. A report by Earth Rights International (ERI) said the Yadana gas project, which also involves US Chevron and Thailand's PTT Exploration and Production, had generated $4.83 billion in gas sale revenues for the regime in the eight years since production began in 2000. ERI said the three partners earned almost $4.8 billion over the period.
