Hofmeister Calls for Energy Body

After three and a half decades of poor energy policy delivered by partisan politicians, the time has come for the US to turn energy policy making over to an independent body comparable to the Federal Reserve Board, says John Hofmeister, former president of Royal Dutch Shell's US unit. "We have made some really boneheaded public policy decisions over 35 years to make ourselves more vulnerable, and we are getting ready to make some more," Hofmeister told Gulf Publishing's Energy Hot Topics conference in Houston this week.
