ENEC Applies for an Operating License for Units 1 and 2 of the Barakah Nuclear Power Station

Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) disclosed on 26 March that it had applied to the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR) of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for an operating license for units 1 and 2 of the Barakah nuclear power station. This stage follows a five-year process during which ENEC and Korea Electric Power Corporation (Kepco), the main contractor for the project, furnished documentation on the safety of their planned operations and the maintenance of the Barakah power station, as well as on their adherence to the highest quality and safety standards, ENEC indicated in a statement released on this occasion.
