TVA sued over alleged Gallatin plant coal ash leak

Two environmental groups have sued the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), claiming coal ash from one of the federal utility's power plants has polluted local waterways. The 976MW Gallatin power plant in central Tennessee is the focus of the suit fired 14 April by the Southern Environmental Law Center on behalf of the Tennessee Scenic Rivers Association and the Tennessee Clean Water Network. The two environmental groups said in November they were going to sue because of alleged Clean Water Act violations.
