Central App markets retreat with gas prices

Eastern US steam coal markets fell in over-the-counter trade today as natural gas futures crept lower, diminishing the proftability of coal-fred generation. Only seven deals cleared CME today, all for Central Appalachian coal. Nymex-spec barge coal shed 10-35cents/short ton at the front of the curve, although the back of the curve was steady.
