Capesize rates started to slip today as iron ore spot fixtures into China have slowed in the week, leading to greater vessel availability. Public holidays in Asia, Europe and South America also contributed to slow trading, but overall, dry bulk freight demand was said to be healthy. Yet with fleet supply continuing to grow at a high pace, rates were weighed down, said a shipping analyst.
