1) What impression did you have of the industry when you first started working as an engineer and how has that impression evolved over time? I entered the industry without any preconceived notions or stereotypes of the profession - which has been both a benefit and a disadvantage. Throughout university and the early days of my career, I found engineering heavily numbers based - calculations, formulas and theories. I believe this would fit most peoples' impression of the role of an engineer. However, as I developed and gained more experience, I found there is less time spent crunching numbers and more time spent being creative, solving problems and interacting with people, which I thoroughly enjoy.
