Castle to close four plants in new restructuring effort

A.M. Castle ft Co. will close four additional warehouses and stock and sell more commodity products as part of a restructuring effort to halt the specialty metals distributor's recent losses, especially in the face of uneven demand in key customer sectors. "We are closing four plants and consolidating these operations into existing facilities located in the same city," president and chief executive officer Scott J. Dolan said during an Oct. 29 earnings conference call, noting that Castle has already closed shop at several sites—Kent, Wash.; Gardena, Calif.; Orange, Conn.; and Letchworth, England—and will consolidate operations over the next few months in Houston; Cleveland; Wichita, Kan.; and Edmonton, Alberta.
