摘要

The oil extracted from tamarillo (Cyphomandra betacea) seeds was analyzed for its essential fatty acid content. The analysis was performed using gas chromatography and the most abundant fatty acids in the tamarillo seed oil were linoleic (70.47%) and oleic (14.93%) acids. Total polyunsaturated fatty acid in this seed oil was 72.20% (70.47% linoleic acid and 1.73% linolenic acid) making this seed oil a promising source of essential fatty acids for food, cosmetic and pharmaceutical applications.
