摘要

Australia's much-contested mineral resources rent tax (MRRT) was facing i a High Court challenge, mere months after it was passed into law. Although the High Court challenge has been adjourned until this month, the legal battle is likely to be a lengthy one.The MRRT is the first cousin of the previously proposed resources super profits tax (RSPT), which would have levied a 40% tax across all extractive industry, including base and precious metals, coal, uranium and mineral sands.
