The Central Appalachia rail (CSX) contract forJanuary dropped in price Monday as buyers showed a lackof interest, instead hoping to lower the front-month pricenearer to December’s final close, according to a market participant.The contract was assessed Monday in the US over-thecounterthermal coal market at $53.30/st, down 35 centsfrom Wednesday’s close before the Thanksgiving holiday,based on lower broker marks. The December contract closedTuesday, November 25, at $52.85/st.
