Deepak Fertilisers to invest Rs. 550-crore in new nitric acid plant in Dahej

Deepak Fertilisers and Petrochemicals Corporation Ltd. (DFCPL) is planning to set up a 1.48 lakh tonnes per annum nitric acid facility at Dahej in Gujarat with an investment of Rs. 550-crore. The project is scheduled to be completed by the second half of 2018. Currently, the company has a manufacturing facility at Taloja in Maharashtra to produce 8.40 lakh tonnes per annum of nitric acid. It produces three variants of the acid including dilute, concentrated and strong at this facility. Most of the nitric acid is used for captive consumption - mainly to produce technical ammonium nitrate (TAN) and ammonium nitro phosphate (ANP) fertiliser. Only 1.60 lakh tonnes per annum made available for merchant sale. "We are the largest manufacturer of nitric acid in India and this new facility will be the first step of development of a mega multi products site at Dahej which would cater to the demand of many intermediates and speciality chemicals manufacturers in India," said Mr. Sailesh Mehta, CMD, DFPCL.
