This report presents the estimated investment and operating costs for the production of anhydrous ammonia, nitric acid and ammonium nitrate in various plant capacities. Included are the bases for plant designs, cost estimates, economic studies, raw materials, utilities and a process description. The following range of plant sizes are considered.nThe purpose of this report is to present the basis for all investment and operating costs pertaining to the production of the nitrogen-containing compounds which serve as raw materials in the processes described in the other reports of this series.nAn investigation shows that from the standpoint of supply and cost of raw materials and freight rate for ammonia, the most favorable location of the ammonia, nitric acid and ammonium nitrate plants is in the New Orleans area.
