The Fertiliser Association of India (FAI) has requested the Government to immediately bail out fertiliser companies from subsidy arrears-triggered "grave liquidity crisis." In a letter to the Finance Minister, Mr. Arun Jaitley, FAI Director General, Mr. Satish Chander has pitched for some subsidy payment mechanism including special banking arrangement to provide funds to the industry. "The carryover of unpaid dues was to the extent of Rs. 35,000-crore from 2013-14 to 2014-15. The situation has become even more difficult in the current year. Urea manufacturers have not been paid since August, 2014," the letter said.
