The method involves determining light intensity of a back light radiated from a source of light (200) toward a motor vehicle (100) i.e. passenger car. An auxiliary mark (185) is produced if the determined light intensity exceeds a given marginal luminous intensity. The auxiliary mark is produced in a field vision of the vehicle so that a vision of a driver of the vehicle is avertable during vision attention on the auxiliary mark by the back light. The mark is terminated if the determined intensity falls below the border luminous intensity. An independent claim is also included for an assistance system for a motor vehicle.
