The US Department of Energy (US-DOE) and the Indian Petroleum Ministry have decided to renew the MoU for joint cooperation on the areas of methane hydrates. The original MoU was signed by both parties in April 2008 for a period of five years under which the US provided scientific expertise, technical manpower and specialized equipment for an expedition under the National Gas Hydrate Programme (NGHP).
