Chemtura expands low-free MDI prepolymer capacity

Chemtura says that it will expand capacity for low-free (LF) methylene di-para-phenylene isocyanafe (MDI) polyure-thane (PU) elastomers at Latina, Italy. The expansion is scheduled to be complete by the end of this year. The project will complement Chemtura's LF MDI production capacity at Gastonia, NC, the company says. Chemtura says that it manufactures the broadest line of LF prepolymers for cast elastomer applications and has one of the most efficient and effective LF manufacturing processes. Chemtura markets LF MDI prepolymers under the Adiprene brand. The company says it is a market leader in hot-cast prepolymers and a leading manufacturer of specialty aqueous urethane dispersions, urethane surface coatings, and polyester polyols.
