Toray Industries and its Toray Advanced Materials Korea (TAK; Seoul) subsidiary have decided to expand high-performance polypropylene (PP) spunbond production capacity at Nantong, China. A new PP spunbond facility, with a production capacity of 20,000 m.t./year, will be built at the site of the companies' Toray Polytech Nantong (Nantong) subsidiary. TAK has a 50% stake in Toray Polytech Nantong, Toray Industries has a 40% stake, and Toray Industries China (Shanghai) holds the remaining 10%. The planned facility will increase Toray Polytech Nantong's total PP spunbond capacity to 78,000 m.t./year. It is expected to become operational in December 2014 and will increase the Toray group's total PP spunbond production capacity to 141,000 m.t./year. Toray's 20,ooo-m.t./year PP spunbond facility at Tangerang, Indonesia, became operational in June.
