BASF to expand US production capacity for water-based polymers

BASF says it plans to expand manufacturing capacity for water-based polymers marketed under the Joncryl trade name at plants located at Wyandotte, MI, and Monaca, PA, to support growth in the printing, packaging, and industrial coating segments. BASF supplies water-based polymers for the printing ink, overprint varnish, and packaging coatings market, the company says. BASF says it has also decided to close its Seaford, DE, manufacturing site, which has produced emulsion polymers since 1986. The Seaford site will close by the end of 2013, and production will be transitioned to BASF's Wyandotte and Monaca sites, BASF says.
