Our journal is receiving an increasing number of manuscripts from all over the world. CMI, the journal of ESCMID, is committed far beyond Europe, and although most manuscripts come from Europe, we are now receiving an increasing number of contributions from China and India. Other emerging countries are also showing significant increases with regard to both the amount and the quality of their scientific production. This is apparent from their submissions to CMI and from the abstracts sent to ECCMID over the last few years. For instance, in London there were four presentations and posters from Egypt, 23 presentations and posters from Iran, and 56 presentations and posters from Turkey. The rejection rate for CMI is still high, but the science is rapidly maturing.
